I did my DTS (Discipleship Training School) from September 2008 to March 2009. The school consists of three months of Lecture and three months of practical Outreach! The slogan of Youth with a Mission is “To know God and make him known”. The lecture phase is all about learning to know God, to fall in Love with him again and to go deeper in your relationship with him so you can go on the Outreach, into the world and make him known and share his love. The first week of my outreach was to London (that was the
week of Christmas) where we helped at a homeless project. The project was about celebrating Christmas with people and giving companionship. It was a really new and nice experience! After that we went to Sicily on the Next Wave, the yacht owned by YWAM England. There I spent six weeks of my Outreach. We prayer walked in the city, spoke in the Churches to encourage them, or helped “just” with maintenance on the boat (e.g. painting). At the end of our time on the boat we sailed to Kiato in Greece. It was a three-day sail. From Athens (Greece) we flew back to England to spend a week in Cambridge. There we helped in International Student cafes, in a youth group and did school outreaches with “Youth for Christ” (YFC)! Also we had an Outreach in the city, in the Park were they decided the first FIFA-football rules. My highlight of Cambridge was when we helped a socially deprived family by cleaning their flat and painting the hallway!!!
After Cambridge we flew to Belfast, Northern Ireland. That’s where we spent our last two weeks of outreach. We prayer walked, like we did in all our Outreach locations as well as street outreaches. Also we went to an Old People’s Home and served the Belfast DTS.
After these two weeks we went back to Harpenden, England, for processing and debriefing of the outreach!
Since that I am having short breaks in Harpenden. The last four weeks I had Staff training and since Tuesday I am back in Germany for six weeks…
